Why look at flood claims?
- Buying or renting a home. A flood map tells you modelled risk; claims tell you where water actually got into insured buildings.
- Deciding on flood insurance. A large share of claims come from moderate- and low-risk zones, where coverage is not mandatory.
- Understanding local history. See which storms hit your county hardest and whether losses are rare events or a regular pattern.
